Rare Early VOLKSWAGEN WALL THERMOMETER Vintage Advertising 1960s MADE USA
This is one of many great vintage & antique items I’m currently listing from various estates. Please take a look at my other merchandise at your leisure. Vintage VOLKSWAGEN Large Advertising Wall Thermometer c1960s. This belonged to a soldier who served at the tail end of the Korean War in 1954. Before he came back to the States he visited Seoul and Tokyo and took many slides. I’ve scanned these slides and although I haven’t listed them yet – it’s evident that he was already fascinated and in love with the Volkswagen back in 1954 as a small number of the slides capture the Beetles zipping down congested city streets. This is a relatively large wall thermometer. It measures 13″ long x 2.75″ wide and is American made. The paint surface shows some oxidation with some paint loss at the top left as seen. Blue & white enameled Volkwagen convex badge. Glass thermometer clear and intact. I wasn’t able to find another matching example anywhere on the internet. Vintage Volkswagen Beetle Musical Decanter Japan Tin Made (rare!)
VINTAGE VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE MUSICAL DECANTER – JAPAN TIN MADE. This is a rare vintage early Volkswagen Beetle decanter that also plays music and includes the original box. It was made in Japan and is manufactured from metal tin. This was patterned after a 1966 or earlier Volkswagen Beetle because it has the glass-over style headlamps and was most likely made in the late 1960’s. The car itself measures 14-3/4″ long x 5-1/2″ wide x 5-1/4 high. The roof opens up and there is a amber glass decanter along with four amber shot glasses. There are also two reversible metal tags that have whiskey on one side and scotch on the other. The music player is wound up by turning the steering wheel and automatically plays “Show Me The Way To Go Home” when the roof is opened. It is in pretty nice condition overall especially for its age with just some small marks and scratches here and there. The music player winds up seems to work good as well. This is definitely a must have collectible item for any Volkswagen or automotive enthusiast. This is probably one of the nicest examples of this particular Volkswagen decantor you will find but please use the pictures to determine the condition for yourself. Thank you for viewing!
