You are viewing a piece of history. This Ford sign was rescued from the city of Hiroshima , Japan some years ago. In Japanese the sign reads “FORD” horizontally and “TOKUYAKUHABAITEN” vertically. TOKUYAKUHABAITEN” translates roughly to “a special dealer store. The sign has no maker or dealer markings. It shows heavy sings of rust , bent edges , and chipping (please refer to the pictures). This “shield-style” sign is double-sided and measures 34″ x 24″. However , it has been brought to my attention that the Ford Motor Co. Was not involved in the Japanese market between 1941 to 1974 due to the Second World War and its lasting impacts thereafter. It is unlikely you will ever see a sign like this again.
