This fabulous “Filtrate Oil” double sided enamel sign is in “as found” condition and has not been repaired or restored. Founded in 1807, Edward Joy & Son Ltd of Filtrate Works, Leeds, first produced branded oil products in 1903 with the trade name’Filtrate’. They were Britains oldest oil producer. The sign has the usual enamel loss and nibbles to the edges and there are some patches of enamel loss to the body on both sides, as well as the usual scuffs, marks and scratches that you would expect from an item of this age and use. The sign has its’ original hanging flange, with five holes, this is well attached and sturdy. The stylish red and blue lettering and cream background has a lovely depth to the colour and gloss. This scarce sign would make great addition to any automobilia collection. It measures 51 cm (20 inches) wide and 36 cm (14 inches) high.
