This is pretty BIG measuring 18″ Tall by 10″ in diameter. There is a slot on the top which was manufactured that way. So therefore it is probably a HUGE bank, or perhaps a tip can or possibly a collection can for an STP charity event at some time. Relatively sure it dates to the late 60’s or 70’s. THe Patina on the lid would suggest that amount of age. Overall it is CLean, retaining most of it’s original “WET” look. It has some usage wear but no rust(see images) as it was the Roadside item/sign for many years. See images for the degree of wear and size.
