Rare Early Automobile Advertising Poster. Offered here is an original Columbia Motor Car Company advertising lithograph, circa 1910, featuring artwork by noted illustrator George Fort Gibbs. The scene depicts a bright orange Columbia touring car outside the “Red Lion” with passengers boarding and a startled dog in the foreground – a classic image from Columbia’s “A Thousand Excellencies” campaign. Artist: George Fort Gibbs (signed lower right “Painted by Geo. “). Publisher: Columbia Motor Car Co. Original Size: approx. 21 × 28 in. Current Size (mounted): 36 × 24 in. On rustic wood board. Condition: Poster shows age wear, losses to borders, and has been mounted and lacquered in 1973 back marked R. Main image and text present well. Provenance: Authentic early 20th-century lithograph advertising poster preserved on board. Columbia was one of America’s pioneering auto makers, first famous for its electrics, later its gasoline touring cars. Advertising artwork by George Gibbs was featured in Columbia’s 1910 Life Magazine campaign, making this a scarce surviving large-format display piece.
